The CC Story
When Peugeot unveiled the 401 Eclipse at the Paris Trade fair in 1934, the motoring world was awed by its innovative folding hardtop roof. Motorists now had access to the best of both worlds: hard top performance with the freedom of top-down driving.
Fast forward 70 years, and Peugeot’s position as the leader of convertible technology is cemented with the stunning 307 CC. An ingenious automatic folding steel roof lets you transform a coupé to a cabriolet, at the touch of a button. Delivering open-top driving with the luxury of a genuine four-seat sports coupe, Peugeot’s legendary handling system and a vast array of active and passive safety features work silently to provide confidence and control.
And now, Peugeot is proud to unveil the latest development in the CC tradition - the 207 CC. Combining the freedom and versatility of a coupé cabriolet with the performance and safety of the 207, this is a car that’s as exciting to look at as it is to drive. Freedom
Some experiences stay in your memory. Like the first time you get up close and personal with the breathtaking 207 CC. One lingering look at its striking, balanced styling will tell you that the 207 CC has inherited a lot of its hatchback sibling’s poise and dynamism. Yet despite the family resemblance, it’s equally obvious that it has its own distinct personality – a car that’s a sleek, sporty coupé one minute and a muscular cabriolet the next. Come nearer. The 207 CC’s dynamic bodylines, wide wheelbase, low profile and high boot line promise sheer excitement on the road, tempting you to take your relationship to the next level… to open up the roof and the responsive engine… to put the surefooted road-holding to the test.
Whatever the weather, it’s always a beautiful day when you drive a 207 CC. Storm clouds looming? Cocoon yourself in the civilised comfort of a hard top coupé, perfectly insulated against the noise and fumes of other traffic. A break in the clouds, and the traffic? Just press a button and 25 seconds later all four windows have vanished into the doors and the fully automatic steel roof has moved backwards and disappeared too – leaving nothing between you and the sky. Thanks to an ingenious folding mechanism, the roof automatically stows itself away in the rear of the car, leaving you with a tidy 187 litres of boot space (that rises to a very accommodating 449 litres with the roof closed). So you can pack more into your weekends away.
The pursuit of perfection is never-ending. But if you look around the interior of the 207 CC, you’ll see we’ve gone a very long way. The luxurious interior is tranquil and relaxing thanks to high levels of sound insulation around the exhaust and engine compartments. The fully adjustable, sculpted driver’s seat offers plenty of support, putting you in the ideal position to make the most of the 207 CC’s superb driving dynamics.
The 207 CC is available with two exceptional new petrol engines, designed in collaboration between PSA Peugeot and the BMW Group. Whichever you choose, you’ll experience a precise combination of power, finesse and efficiency.
1.6-litre
Performance comes as standard with the highly responsive 1.6-litre 16-valve engine. Advanced technology such as variable valve timing and a variable inlet valve lift system ensure a refined and satisfying drive, while simultaneously minimising fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Choose from a 5-speed manual or Tiptronic automatic transmission.
1.6-litre Turbo
If it’s pure exhilaration you’re after, the 207 CC Turbo comes with the powerful 1.6-litre THP (Turbo High Pressure) engine. Its innovative twin-scroll turbocharger coupled with direct petrol injection provides remarkable performance, with no compromise on fuel efficiency. And a massive 240Nm of torque means swift acceleration at all engine speeds, guaranteeing enough thrills to please even the most demanding driver.
Handling
The reputation of the 207 hatch is built on its agile handling, so it’s no surprise that the 207 CC is equally exciting to drive. The reinforced structure of the 207 CC provides excellent rigidity whether the roof ’s open or closed, thanks to purpose-built modifications such as tie bars located under the car. The sophisticated suspension set-up includes specifically developed MacPherson-type struts at the front with a torsion beam at the rear. This combination minimises vibration while maximising road-holding, and delivers the legendary ride and handling you’d expect from Peugeot.
When it comes to safety on the road, you can’t be too careful. Which is why we’ve drawn on our experience of developing active and passive safety features for the Peugeot 207 and evolved them to suit a coupé cabriolet. As a result, the 207 CC has been specifically engineered to protect you and your passengers, without losing any of its elegance.
Active Safety System
The 207 CC has a sophisticated handling and braking system on board, comprising of:
- ABS Anti-lock brakes avoid skidding, helping you retain control of the steering when you need to stop in an emergency.
- EBFD Electronic Brake Force Distribution steps in to apply braking force separately on individual wheels – maintaining stability even when you’re braking on a corner.
- EBA Emergency Brake Assist increases your braking power, to help you come to a halt quickly and safely.
Additionally, the 207 CC Turbo comes standard with both Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Traction Control. ESP continually monitors and coordinates the safety functions of the car, while Traction Control prevents the wheels from spinning when accelerating or on slippery road surfaces.
Passive Safety System
- Airbags The 207 CC comes standard with four airbags: adaptive driver and front passenger SMART airbags, which adjust to the severity of the impact for head and upper body protection, and front side airbags, to protect the heads and chests of the driver and front seat passenger.
- Reinforced body shell Designed to absorb impact energy to protect you and your passengers. In the event of a head-on collision, the steering column moves down, lowering the chance of it harming the driver and reducing the risk of the engine and gearbox being pushed back into the cabin. The driver’s footrest is also designed to absorb the shock of any impact, reducing the possibility of ankle injuries. Should you be hit from the side, you’re protected by an armoured safety cell that has reinforcement panels built into the side.
- Active roll hoops The 207 CC has automatically deploying roll hoops, specially engineered to protect the heads of all occupants, whether the roof is up or down, should the car roll.
- Pyrotechnic Seatbelts The front seat belts are equipped with both pretensioners and force-limiters, and the two rear seat belts are equipped with force-limiters to keep everyone securely restrained in their seats during an impact.
