Active Safety
Active safety is impeccable, thanks to the Electronic Stability Program, which incorporates ABS with Electronic Brake for Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist and Traction Control, and a suspension system which is as innovative as it is effective. The SV models also have AMVAR, an electronic suspension system which automatically adjusts suspension settings depending on road and driving conditions to deliver a smooth, assured ride.
Passive Safety
Passive safety is of paramount importance. That's why the protection of you and your passengers is ensured by eight airbags. In addition, standard safety features include anti-whiplash front head restraints and four pyrotechnically pretensioned seatbelts.

There are two petrol engines (2.2 116kW and 3.0 V6 155kW) and two HDo diesel engines (2.0 100kW / 320Nm and 2.7 V6 twin turbo 150kW / 440Nm). The diesel engines in particular offer the performance you are used to from petrol powered cars with the added benefit of increased torque which provides maximum responsiveness from the engine in matter what speed you are traveling at or what gear you are in. At the same time, HDi diesel provides much better fuel economy and environmental benefits. To complement any driving style the 407 also comes with a range of innovative transmissions.
The 407 is teeming with features that are easy to use. The centrally mounted display controls central locking, dual zone climate-control and electric rear seat child safety lock doors. There is also an onboard trip computer that displays multiple functions. It even tells you when your tyres need air! To help keep out the sun, there is a rear windsreen and rear side sunblinds*.
SV models come with leather seats which are electrically operated and heated at the front.

Smart features are included to make your drive more enjoyable. Park Distance Control aids reverse parking, while auto illuminating headlights and auto rain sensing wipers let you concentrate on the road ahead. The SV models have a variable electronic suspension that independently controls each wheels suspension and adapts the shock absorbers to your driving style.
Our HDi diesel engines are fitted with a pioneering particle filter (FAP) which works to collect and destroy the harmful particles that would otherwise escape into the environment - the result is exhaust gas that actually contains less particles than the air supplied to the engine in urban areas.

With the new 2.7 litre V6 twin turbo engine delivering 440Nm of torque through an advanced 6 speed Tiptronic auto transmission, you'll appreciate diesel intelligence at its finest.
