Optimum Safety

he 407 Coupé’s large-diameter, ventilated front and rear disc brakes are made even more effective by its anti-lock braking system (ABS) combined with electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) and emergency brake assist (EBA). There’s exemplary road holding in emergency situations, too, with ESP - the electronic stability program that detects and corrects any under- or over-steer. The excellent rigidity of the 407 Coupé’s body also contributes to its exemplary road-holding.

Passenger protection

The 407 Coupé gives its occupants optimum protection. Passive safety features include a front impact protection structure, side reinforcement bars, 7 air bags (including one for the steering column), pyrotechnical front seatbelts with force limiters and a retractable steering column.

Vehicle protection

The 407 Coupé is an object of desire. That’s why we’ve made security a priority. Cable connections between the lock and door controls make them virtually tamper-proof. Special steel plates provide additional protection for the doors and for the boot. There are also laminated side windows, steering column and wheel locks and deadlocking — all designed to keep your 407 Coupé secure.

Road Handling

The 407 Coupé’s smooth, supremely agile ride comes from the double wishbone with uncoupled hub carrier front suspension (developed and perfected through our motor sport activities) and integral multi-arm rear suspension with horizontal dampers. This configuration combines with the excellent torsional rigidity of the body and lower centre of gravity to make the car hug the road and provide excellent stability.

The 407 Coupé grips the road with confidence and corners like a dream, thanks to state-of-the-art suspension with a damper and anti-roll bar set up tailored for keen driving. The electronically variable AMVAR suspension system delivers improved safety and comfort levels.

Engines and Gearbox

Choose from two impressive V6 power units: the thrilling 3.0 24V V6 petrol or the high-torque, high performance 2.7 V6 bi-turbo HDi diesel with FAP technology. Both come standard with a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, providing more performance for less effort. For faster shifting and better acceleration we’ve developed the first high-torque, 6-speed, transverse-mounted automatic gearbox.

The 407 is teeming with features that are easy to use. The centrally mounted display controls central locking, dual zone climate-control and electric rear seat child safety lock doors. There is also an onboard trip computer that displays multiple functions. It even tells you when your tyres need air! To help keep out the sun, there is a rear windsreen and rear side sunblinds*.

SV models come with leather seats which are electrically operated and heated at the front.
